UPS NEW JERSEY SHOOTING LIVE UPDATES: POLICE RESPOND TO ACTIVE SHOOTER AT LOGAN TOWNSHIP FACILITY

police officers responded to an active shooter situation at a UPS facility in South Jersey after receiving reports of shots being fired.

The Logan Township Police Department confirmed to Newsweek that officers responded to a UPS facility on Birch Creek Road in Logan Township on Monday morning. When officers arrived shots had been fired and it remained an active shooter situation as of 9:45 a.m. EST.

It’s unclear if anyone was injured in the shooting and footage taken by WPVI at the scene showed officers behind a police vehicle near a loading ramp outside the facility. Other officers and a multitude of police cars were stationed on the streets surrounding the facility. From the footage, it appears at least 20 members of law enforcement were on the scene.

UPS told Newsweek that the company is working with law enforcement while they're responding to the active shooter scene. The company did not release any information about who was involved in the shooting.

Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Staff Tom Gilbert told NJ.com that by 10:30 a.m. EST, the situation was “contained” and described it as an “active incident.” Gilbert said law enforcement was now in “fact-gathering” mode.

The Logan Township School District told WPVI that all schools are on modified lockdown in light of the situation in the nearby area. No one can leave or enter the building, although classes can proceed normally inside the school buildings.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
